‘Worst economic conditions for 60 years’

I sympathise with a Chancellor who apparently feels UK households are better off knowing just how serious is the threat to their welfare. I sympathise less with his boss, whose spin on Britain’s economic performance was outrageous and may even be part of the reason we are nationally so ill-prepared for any downturn, let alone the worst for 60 years. As a financial adviser, if a new client presented with the aggregate UK personal balance sheet, I would want to ensure they were realistic about the likely stress and could visualise the personal consequences.
